Freedom from addiction to drugs and alcohol starts here.

Recovery Programs - Easy 2 Step Process

Step 1:  Full Assessment  | A Level of Care will be Determined for You

Assessments: Our trained team of Therapist uses the best tools to help determine what your Recovery Needs are in order to customize a treatment plan which may use all or some of the various LEVEL OF CARE listed Below.  Not every tool is required depending on why you need the assessment:

  1. Is the Assessment for Court Purposes? Often a screening tool is sufficient and when indicated additional tools can be used
  2. Is the Assessment for a Driver License Appeal or other License Hearing? A more thorough process is used and the examiners will often dictate the tools they expect to see including citation of diagnostic criteria.
  3. Is the Assessment for Determining the level of care as you begin a recovery program? A two hour in-depth analysis and a clinical interview is necessary for your insurance company to determine the medical necessity of the treatment. This must be done up front before the treatment plan is developed

Our therapists are trained to use the tools necessary to assess the problem and to accurately report the findings to the intended audience. Assessments are available at both the Walloon Lake campus and the Outpatient offices located in Harbor Springs.

Step 2: - One of the following Levels of Care will be appropriate for you

Inpatient Services -  We keep you in the care of our Facility

Detoxification Services. Our facility at Walloon Lake offers detoxification services supervised by a medical staff including 24-hour skilled nursing care, an attending physician or physician's assistant who meets with the client daily and as needed. We handle cases that would otherwise require hospitalization. The sub-acute unit can safely guide you or your loved one through withdrawal. This can be physical, emotional or psychological withdrawal. We utilize medicine designed to safely and comfortably break the physical, emotional and psychological connection to the alcohol or drug to which you are addicted. For medical providers, BRH can safely treat to ASCM 3.7 level of acuity. Detoxification usually lasts 3-10 days depending on the medical needs of the client.

Residential Program. Our facility at Walloon Lake offers 30-60-90 day program of Recovery designed to provide insight and the tools necessary for you to remain abstinent of alcohol and drugs. While in the program you will attend group classes each and every day. While in the residential program you will see the doctor and your individual therapist for one on one sessions.  BRH offers daily activities to ensure that you learn new healthy habits. We have outside speakers share challenges and success. Our program also incorporates family therapy during the family day as this improves your families understanding of the addiction and your path of recovery,  Additional Service includes a wide range of case management services and an individualized aftercare plan to provide you the best opportunity to remain free from addiction after you leave the program. The Program materials are the traditional twelve (12) step modality based upon "Living in Balance(TM)

Outpatient Services - You visit our offices on a schedule

Intensive Out Patient Services. Our facility at Walloon Lake and sister program at Bear River Outreach located in Harbor Springs. IOP does not provide the room (housing) or board (food) and contemplates a full day commitment three days per week to cover the core material. IOP is an effective way for clients who lack insurance coverage or financial resources to experience the full residential program. After beginning a treatment plan for residential services, clients who lose the ability to pay either because of an insurance re-determination of lack of expected financial support may remain on campus and compete for the program or may be transferred to the Outreach program to complete their education.
Outpatient Services.  The Outreach facility in Harbor Springs offers groups and individual counseling. We offer a traditional core program based upon Living in Balance(TM) or the Wellbriety Red Road to Recovery Program. Our therapists will design a treatment program based upon the needs determined by the assessment to provide you the tools necessary to aid you on your path to Recovery.
Two (2) Locations for service:
  • Harbor Springs Michigan Outpatient Services - 8484 M-119 Suite 17B, Harbor Springs MI 49740
  • Walloon Lake Michigan Residential and Detoxification Campus - 2594 Springvale Road, Boyne City MI 49712

Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Our medical providers will when appropriate utilize the prescription drugs of Suboxone (TM) or Vivitrol(TM) in COMBINATION with a recovery plan to break the cycles of addiction to opiates. These controlled substances are closely regulated by the FDA and enrollment is limited in the program to those who are actively in recovery. BRH does not utilize Methadone or treat chronic pain. The use of medically assisted treatment programs has been shown by the federal government to increase recovery among persons addicted to opiates.
On a case by case basis, the medical team will offer Anabuze (TM)  for those recovering from addiction to alcohol. Dates and times are limited. The program's requirements are strictly adhered to and the program is designed to help those who need MAT as part of a successful Recovery plan. We are currently enrolling and space is limited.
