A Balanced Treatment Approach To Substance Use Disorder
EVIDENCE-BASED ADDICTION TREATMENT PROGRAMS
After the preliminary detox, you will work with a dedicated psychotherapist who will help you uncover and overcome the root causes of your addiction – the situations or experiences that caused you to use in the first place. At the same time, the rest of our industry-leading staff will help you to heal holistically – on the levels of mind, body, and spirit. You will enjoy nutritious food, presented in our dining room, take meditative walks within our 4.5-acre campus, and strengthen your body with yoga and/or workouts. You will heal on many levels with acupuncture and meditation. Once you are ready to return home, an individualized care plan will be provided to you, incorporating your input, to help you maintain recovery at home.
At Bear River Health, our goal is for you to succeed beyond our doors, and we will do everything within our power to help you do so. Continuity of care is concerned with the quality of care over time. It is the process by which the patient and his/her physician-led care team are cooperatively involved in ongoing health care management toward the shared goal of high quality, cost-effective medical care.

Residential Program|Clinical Program
The Bear River Health Residential Program focuses on the whole individual, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Daily programming includes morning reflections complemented with opening mindfulness meditation and basic stretching; core clinical groups that are carefully selected from the Hazelden Foundation Living in Balance program; body practice and multiple pathways sessions; and evening pathway groups, including Talking Circles and guest speakers.
In addition to the daily programming, residents have the opportunity to meet with a licensed therapist on a regular basis, which allows for a safe, confidential place to process sobriety as well as create an individual, client-centered treatment plan. These individual appointments are also used for client family sessions.
Depending on the needs, insurance and desire of the client, various programs are available, including a 2-week, 4-week length program . The core clinical material from Hazelden Living in Balance curriculum is presented twice daily in both the 2- and 4-week programs, and relapse prevention sessions are also reviewed weekly.
Bear River Health at Walloon Lake Core Clinical Program uses the research-based Living in Balance curriculum as its core learning tool. This program includes twelve core sessions interspersed over a 4-week period which address basic issues commonly faced by clients in early recovery. Sessions address drug education, triggers and cravings, relapse prevention, self-help programs, mental and physical health, emotional and social wellness, sexual and spiritual health, daily living skills, and vocational and educational development.
Additionally, supplemental sessions are provided that address other specific issues and topics, with relapse prevention being addressed at least twice per week, having 8 unique lessons over a 4-week period. Additional topics include self-help and Twelve Step programs, physical issues, social and family issues, sexual abuse and compulsive sexual behaviors, grief and loss, money management, nutrition and exercise, medication-assisted treatment, chronic pain and opioids, strategies for older adults, and advanced relapse prevention.
Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are also available, maintaining the core curriculum through allowing more client flexibility.
